Image workflow

Use this when you want consistent, publish-ready images with minimal rework.

1) Define the destination

  • Web PDP, marketplace, ads, print, app store, docs
  • Required dimensions, background rules, file size limits

2) Start with the best source

  • Prefer original exports over re-saved images (chat apps, screenshots of screenshots)
  • Avoid “export-of-export” when possible

3) Choose the minimum necessary operations

  • Upscale: when detail is soft at the target display size
  • Cleanup/artifact reduction: when compression noise is visible
  • Background removal: when required by design or marketplace rules

4) Refine (conservative first)

  • Do a first pass with conservative settings
  • If needed, run a second pass for specific issues (don’t crank everything at once)

5) Review checklist (at 100%)

  • Edges: halos, jaggies, missing fine parts (hair, straps)
  • Texture: over-smoothing (“plastic”) vs over-sharpening (ringing)
  • Text/logos: legibility and distortion
  • Gradients: banding and blotches

6) Export correctly

  • Use the right format for the destination (web vs print)
  • Keep dimensions consistent across a set when possible

7) Spot-check on real surfaces

  • Mobile + desktop
  • Dark mode backgrounds if applicable

Troubleshooting quick fixes

  • Halos: reduce sharpening / cleanup intensity
  • Missing edges: use a higher-quality source or more conservative background removal
  • Blotchy gradients: reduce aggressive enhancement and export at higher quality
